Cancelled

Image
The "meeting" between the clown and Zelensky has been cancelled. I'm guessing the orange man wanted Zelensky to give up, give in, let Putin have his way. We are so f*cked, America. Update:  It's absolutely appalling what is happening in this country. Two bullies against a man, the only man in that room.  I blame each and every one of you m*rons who voted for this. I hope you suffer. You have done so much damage. *AI generated image using Freepik

Yep, I Hate This Town

Oh, here we go. Another reason to not live, visit, or pass through this town. I just had one post about this piece of sh*t town. Here's another  . Old, disgusting men who lived in another time where they didn't need a college degree or even a high school diploma to make a decent living have chosen your future. Listen to them as they open their ugly mugs supporting the hatchet act with ZERO evidence to back up anything! Btw: That's exactly the sort who eat at Frank's Diner. All the years I have lived here, I went one time. The staff was insolent and rude. The food was greasy garbage. The customers... well, right there. That's them.

Was it Murder?

Image
Oooh, a mystery is afoot, and it involves a well known actor, Gene Hackman and his wife. And a dog.  Apparently, Hackman was found at the foot of a staircase. The wife was found in the bathroom, with pills scattered about. The dog was in the bathroom with her. Two other dogs were still alive.  Seems no one had seen the couple for quite some time, so you can imagine the scene. Let's play detective.... Old man with a younger wife, although she was in her 60's. He was 95.  They argue at the top of the stairs. A push, some regret, some pills, nosey dog. The end. Or, man trips over dog. Wife kills dog. Regret sets in. Pills. The end. Or, it was murder by a handyman. The door was open when some workers came, so that's suspicious. I'm sure more will be forthcoming soon and Netflix will be sure to carry a few of his movies, the French Connection being one of his best. Stay tuned... March 3rd update  According to a pathologist who is just guessing at this point as we ...

The Betrayal

Image
Dot: "Shush, Bubba, don't start blubberin'. They'll hear you and send us off to the camps. So just hush." Bubba: "I'm scared, Ma. It's cold down here. I'm hungry, too." Dot: "You wanna go up there and raise the flag, boy? You think they'll feed you, give you a nice bed to sleep in? Nah, too late fer that. I shoulda listened. I shoulda listened to that news reporter." Bubba: "Do you think they got Pa, Ma? Maybe he's coming back with those berries. I'm so hungry." Dot: "Get yer mind off it. Yer pa ain't coming back. They got him, and they'll come fer you if you don't shut it. Put you in the front line with Jimbo and Vladimir, that's what they'll do, alright." Bubba: "Ma, do ya see it!? Laws, I think they're heading straight fer us. Oh, shit, ma, they're coming!" Dot: "Bubba, Robert Lee, don't run, son!" The sound of gunfire erupts overhead as she hea...

"Double, Double, Toil and Trouble..."

Have you seen the movie, 'The Out of Towners ,' starring Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis? The couple from Ohio is going to New York so George (Lemmon) can interview for a job. Murphy's law, "anything that can go wrong will go wrong," is the premise. It's a good movie. Even the remake with Goldie Hawn doesn't stink so much because the writing is terrific. But, watch the original. Lemmon and Dennis were pros.  Anyway, I mention this film because it reminds me of my weekend getaway with a friend to Chicago. I've been to the Windy City many times in my life, having lived as 'they' say, in a suburb of Chicago (which sets me off, but that's another story) I would take the train and go to the art museum or just walk around. I've had some interesting moments in the city, but always got home in one piece. I was looking forward to our weekend because we were going to go see the interactive play 'Drunken Shakespeare ,' where the actors perf...

K-town Five Years Later

Image
I don't like to tell people where I live. I'm not very proud of this place. Donald Trump stopped by one day, to look at the burned out buildings allegedly started by protesters after the shooting of Jacob Blake.   On August 23, 2020, Jacob Blake was shot in the back seven times by a Kenosha police officer after Blake refused to comply with a warrant for domestic violence. Since it was a summer evening people were outside, and as the beginning of what was to become national news unfolded, neighbors took out their cell phones and recorded Blake ignoring police officers commands to stop and show his hands. As Blake's young children sat in the car, Blake walked around to the driver's side and reached for something inside. The officer then shot Blake.  That incident whether justified or not set off an explosion of anger and outrage.   Two days later two men were dead, one seriously wounded, all shot by a seventeen year old boy with an assault weapon.  ...

Right after high school I got a federal job working at a guaranteed student loan program facility. Federal jobs aren't easy to get, at least not back then, and in this case it was a who-you-know situation which got me in. The money was awful, but the hours were great, as well as a thousand paid holidays. Ok, a little exaggeration regarding  holidays, although, federal workers get lots and lots of days off. I also got sick leave, paid vacation, insurance... so it was good.   I was a records clerk. I received the hundreds of daily applications seeking government funding for college. (A program discontinued in 2010) I counted, stamped, typed, filed, delivered in office mail, sent telegrams, faxed, looked for wayward accounts and filed, filed, filed. I was good at my job.   I can only imagine if Elon Musk had sent me an email/letter  demanding I tell him why I'm important in five examples, then threatening me if I didn't respond, how I'd reac...

There Are Two Kinds of People in This World

Image
Ok, I know that's not true. When I had my former blog I wrote a story using that sentiment. I used to hear that line from a family member all the time when I was a child. It's a silly thing to say. I don't even remember what the two kinds of people were I wrote about but it was all tongue in cheek. Back then I had a few loyal followers who would stop by and leave a comment. I know I ruffled feathers at times and received a few harsh comments, but mostly fellow bloggers left nice comments.  There was a blogger I followed who created interesting works of art. He was always respectful and polite. There was a person who followed him who started to leave comments on my blog. I'm not sure if they were romantically involved or even knew each other. After I wrote my two kinds of people blog, I received a comment from her. She corrected me and told me there were more than two kinds of people and I was very narrow minded. Um, okay. I laughed it off and remember leaving a playc...

February 30

Image
Oh joy! We American citizens are all getting $8,000 from the government, led by Elon Musk, on February 30th.  I'm going to Japan, and then I'm going to buy a carton of eggs. Whoo hoo!

Alone

Image
Late at night when I can't sleep I'll go to YouTube and watch men build cabins in the wilderness, using hand tools and manly muscles. They usually have a dog to keep them company and sometimes some musical instrument they hand carved that they play at night before the cozy mud and clay fireplace. I have always been fascinated by people who can be self reliant, to be able to build a shelter using pine trees and moss.  The other day I started watching the series, 'Alone, The Beast ' where three people are dropped off in a remote area where they will remain for thirty days. They arrive with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Depending on where they are left, they are given one animal (already dead) to use as food and other uses. They must find a way to skin, cut, and preserve the animal. They also need to make a shelter and start a fire.  In the first episode I watched, there was one woman and two men. They all had previous experiences hunting and living off t...

Sucky Moms

If you have looked at my profile page, under favorite books, you'll see I've only mentioned three, although I read. I read a lot. I've been "reading" ever since I stole my older sister's Dick and Jane. I was absolutely fascinated and curious about those strange scratchings and what they might mean. Once the code was broken I read everything. I read my mother's romance and mystery novels. I read encyclopedias, cereal boxes, street signs... I was in my Shangri-La when the Scholastic book list came out. I'd steal cigarette money from my mother's purse to buy a book.   Ok, you get it. My face was in a book, always. I've read some really great stuff, some written by people who were not good people, some quite despicable. I read Margaret Mitchell's, 'Gone With the Wind' and found it laughable. I was ten when I read it. I tried again, later in life. Nope, still stupid. I've even written my own books and published under Amazon- books ...

Get a Kluwe

Image
I've never heard of Chris Kluwe   until today when I read a news article stating he had been arrested at a town hall meeting in Huntington Beach, California, for protesting the recent plaque put up in the city's central library. The plaque is an acrostic using, MAGA. I won't show the plaque, or write what is says. It's all sick sh*t created by the current regime which mimics the past regime headed by Adolph Hitler.  We need more people like Kluwe. I know it's scary. I'm sure anyone who defied the Nazis were terrified. Bit by bit the rights of Jews were taken away. Their businesses were closed. They were forced to move, forced to wear armbands, forced onto trains, and forced into gas chambers.  No one believed one person could be that vile. People scoffed at the rumors of concentration camps, starvation, and murder. Just like now, when people use the laugh emoji to respond to the plight of people being deported or losing their jobs. An f-ing emoji. Millions of pe...

A Water Pie

Image
Although we were poor, as in you get your sister's hand me downs, "what's an allowance?" white bread instead of hamburger bun poor, I can't recall going to bed hungry. My father grew vegetables in his garden, as did my grandmother who lived across the street. I have plants but was never ambitious enough to grow food except for my sweet little pepper plant who gives and gives. I admire people who can grow food. I don't want to continue to be pessimistic regarding our future so let's just consider this post a happy blog about making something tasty out of water.  I saw this recipe a few years ago from YouTuber, Emmymade-in-Japan. It's called water pie and supposedly was used during the depression era. It does take more than water but I think most of us can do this. The recipe I found is https://www.southernplate.com/water-pie-recipe-from-the-great-depression/ It's the same as what Emmy made. I have not yet made it because I um, actually do not have...

I Long for Boredom

Image
I do love a good conspiracy theory. I think it's great when people question what they are told, but we all know (well, most of us know) a theory is no longer a theory when proven a fact. So why do people still insist they are being lied to, such as "Mad" Mike Hughes, who made his own steam rocket to prove with his own eyes the world is flat. Why not get on a plane instead of wasting time, energy, money, and in this case his life after rocket went kerplunk? His promotor claims it was all a stunt to receive funding for his rockets.  Bigfoot, Yeti, Nessie, Wuhan, the Mothman, the moon landing... Hey, even to this day I question the story regarding where the corona virus originated from. Was it from a lab or the Wuhan food market, where you could buy crickets, toads and baby kittens to roast for a Sunday feast? Lately I see more and more stories warning us aliens walk among us. It would certainly clarify the reason for so many Trumpers. They are aliens who have not quite s...

Mattress Day in 'merica

Image
Jefferson: "Ah, gentlemen, it's Mattress Day once again. We should be so honored." Washington: "At least they remember us, Thomas. Government employees get the day off as well as the children, who are dumber than a box of rocks." Franklin: "Don't be too harsh, George, they've had a few rough years. Another day away from the maths won't hurt. Besides, the current president is considering abolishing education altogether." Jefferson: "I don't believe he intends to throw away the babies with the bathwater, Benjamin. Changes certainly are needed, wouldn't you agree?" Washington: "Perhaps, perhaps. Historians will record their deeds as they have done with us, the mattress kings." Franklin: "I believe I've been treated quite well even though I cannot be included in the small men's club, George. The lame story of you chopping down the cherry tree has finally been laid to rest. Who started that rumor, anyway...

Trump Helping the Farmers Any Day Now

Image
Local reporter: "I'm here in rural Ohio talking to Mr. John Johnson, a dairy farmer who will be impacted by the president's tariffs. Mr. Johnson, thank you for taking time out to speak with us. In your own words, tell us why you voted for Donald Trump." Johnson: "Cause I don't want no colored in the White House, unless they're cleaning the rooms. It's called the White House fer a reason. I certainly weren't gonna vote fer a woman. What a dumb question. Next." Local reporter: Even now knowing how the tariffs affect you? You said you might have to sell the cattle and move in with your, as you called her, "liberal ass sister," in Illinois." Johnson: "It's that Musk feller creatin' this mess. Any day now Mr. Trump is gonna tell him to take a hike. He won't let us down. It's them brown folks he's gonna send back. I had a few workin' for me. Darn good workers. Didn't complain about sleeping in the bar...

Shhh, You're not the President.

Image
Anyone who looks at this little mini Musk and goes, "Aawww" I don't want to know you. I'm still limiting my time on the WWW. I just peruse YouTube but, I see things. Like this insufferable child. I understand his life is going to be filled with nannies and absent parents. After all Daddy is on spawn number thirteen. Yet, I don't find him sweet or cheek squeezable. Haha, I can only imagine what the orange man was thinking as he sat there at his big desk with not a piece of paper in sight, looking at the kid after he tells him to "shhhhh." He didn't have to tell him he's not the president. We already know sperm daddy is running the show.   As for the other news I can't seem to look away fast enough from is all those people from the other side of the border (not Canada) who are regretting (allegedly) voting for their savior, their manly man, cause they sure weren't going to vote for a woman, let alone a black woman. We have all witnessed ...

Whoo Hoo Woo

Image
When I went back to college a few years ago I realized something about myself. When I studied at home I needed to go over the same material time after time before it stuck. However, when I was in a classroom and the instructor was teaching a lesson I retained the information. I think it has to do with fear. For the first eight years of my education I was taught by the nuns of have no mercy. They were mean little ladies who patrolled the aisles in their flowing black habits and wore a cross around their waist which was probably used like a ninja star, ready to aim at the naughty boys who couldn't sit still in class.  Apparently fear is a big motivator. At least for me that seems to be the case. Fear opens up another corridor in my brain. It's like the Squid game in my head.  Speaking of Squid game, I've seen both seasons and I liked them, the first one more than the second. I've watched a lot of Korean movies and tv series and find many quite entertaining and cleve...

Bottom Up

Image
Years ago I found a documentary about an experiment which started in 1964 and continues to this day. From age seven and up, ten boys and four girls were chosen from all areas and economic backgrounds in England to determine if, "social class determines future." Every seven years their lives are invaded and examined and recorded. Unfortunately, I have not seen the more recent episodes in the series. I recall the last episode I watched was when the children were now young adults mostly giving proof that where you start in society is where you will remain, especially regarding the children from upper class status. A few of the children who came from lower socioeconomic levels improved their "fate" but for the most part, starting out with money gave them an advantage that continued into adulthood. Most of the children still allow the seven year intrusion into their lives. A few have died. A few have left the series, angry over how they were perceived in the series.  ...

Aunty, School, and a Virus

Image
So much has happened since I ended my blog. I started in 2009 but cannot recall exactly when I finally stopped. I know I blogged for many years, but eventually grew bored with my own writing. I went back to school and studied art and Japanese. Going back was interesting to say the least. I was older than the students and my teachers. I have always wanted to go back and get my degree, but sadly the frame on my wall is still empty.   It was hard, damn it. Not so much the learning part, but the actual physical activity of being there. Sitting on a hard bench for three hours in art class was difficult. Walking from building to building to get to classes was painful. Trying to hear our sensei teach us, "Kono sushi wa oishidesu." with my ruined hearing was excruciating. I had heart palpitations from the anxiety of having to mingle with students and have a conversation with them. I finally admitted defeat. I would not get a diploma. It wasn't as heart wrenching as I thou...

The Day After

Image
For a few weeks there had been optimism. Can we really pull this off? Judging by the enthusiastic and large crowds it really looked like there was no going back ... Near midnight I finally looked at the results and for the next 40 days I refused to go online. My plan was to disengage entirely, to hide my head and heart in ignorance for the next four years. That's hard to do when you have relatives who insisted on sharing the end of times with me even after I shook my fist in rage (an action I didn't share) I really wanted to be oblivious. Yet, slowly news filtered in. Carter dies. Fires in California. Plane crash in D C. Life intruded. I still try to stay away from media feeds I once viewed and clicked on for hours throughout the day. I slept with my phone by my side just in case I missed something important. Like many of us mortal beings, our psyche was damaged and I am still struggling to find solace. So now I see reports of regret from those who voted for the orange man....

Greetings!

Image
Good day! For my first post let me reintroduce myself. I started a blog way back in 2009, after the great lay off of the millennium. Seriously depressed and feeling worthless, I found blogger. For many years it was cathartic to share my life, stories, etcetera, etcetera... So why start again? I have time. I need to find sanity in this f-ed up world. I need to find a way to relieve the chaos out there. This will be my zen garden. My name is Maggie. I am still Thingy. I was born in the 1900's when spending time outdoors digging holes to China was the norm. We didn't lock doors, knew our neighbors, ate what was served at dinner time. I also lived in a world where white folks locked their car doors if a black man walked by. I lived in the world where nuns rapped your knuckles and no one stood up to bullies. I grew up with questions. Lots of questions regarding the hypocrisy I witnessed on a daily basis and no one was there to help me understand any of it. Children were seen, not h...
