Gee, Ya Hit One Kid- Chill
Before I give my response to this video, what do you think? This actually happened in 2020 but is just making the rounds because I guess there was a ruling where this couldn't be shown because it might show the bicyclist in a bad light and you know how people get when kids are harmed. The child had enough padding on so only her little feelings were hurt. Mom and Dad were enraged.
Let's walk this through. It's a bike path. He's ringing the heart of his little bell. Child is clueless. She probably can't hear anything with all her winter ensemble. Mom clearly heard it because she turns around. Dad clearly saw him coming because he's filming the whole shebang. So for years they go back and forth in court blaming each other for what happened. The bicyclist even won a settlement because he was being hounded, then that was reversed, so here we are. Now that this is out I suggest the bicyclist go into a witness protection program. He's just not going to get a fair deal here. And should he? He claims he never intended to knee the child. He sort of slipped as he tried to get out of the way. Heelarious. No one is buying that and rightfully so. He kneed her and he meant it. But what about Mom and Dad's culpability? Mom heard the bell. She has time to turn around. Instead of pulling child out of the way she watches as he rides by. I'm sure it happened all so fast, I'm not sure how I'd react. The child is blame free. She's a child.
Nah, the bicyclist is an adult. If he had time to ring his bell, he had time to stop or at least swerve out of the way. He was being an asshole. Does he deserve the hate? Hmmm... Did I just mention in a previous post about Big Brother watching you? I breathe a sigh of relief that I grew up in an era where if you did something really stupid you would live to see another day without the entire world doxing you forever. Of course I realize we humans move on rather quickly to the next story and this guy will be forgotten by most. His neighbors won't forget. He's retired now but I'm guessing he would have lost his job over this. Yeah, we don't need no God judging us because we have cameras and recorders and pointy fingers.
My issue here is if he had just admitted he was a real jerk, if he had apologized to family and child, maybe treated her to a bauble or toy, this would have gone away. It's when you deny an act we all clearly can tell was intentional, you lose all sympathy. From me anyway. I'm not gonna lie - I enjoy watching the kid get tapped. It's funny because she's ok. It's not funny because he's an adult who should have acted like one. So that hissy fit is going to cost you some bad moments for awhile.
It's a kick in the butt, but whaddya gonna do?
