The Pointless Testimony

So Jack Smith will go before the House judiciary committee to testify to the fact that our sitting president is a law breaking thug. How noble. And, what's the point? Smith claims Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election results. When it was clear that the orange man would be our next president, everything stopped. Smith and company knew it would be nearly impossible to go to trial with their findings.

This is like finding out thirty years later your sister was secretly sleeping with your boyfriend and now needs to confess. It changes nothing other than we have more reason to despise Trump and have zero faith in the rule of law. I've lost any sense as to why people stand behind this foul and soulless cretin. I don't understand it. It's not just his supporters but those who oppose him who have allowed him to spew absolute nonsense, to threaten allies, to murder his enemies, to allow five year old children to be questioned and detained. What is happening in this country is beyond abhorrent.

And nothing, absolutely nothing is being done to stop it. Jack Smith didn't have to sit before a committee and speak the truth because he now has a big red circle on his back. Trump's henchmen will make sure to make his life miserable for sharing what we have assumed, for verifying our belief that this man's reason for living is to have more, take everything for himself, in any way necessary.

So, what exactly is the goal here? During and after Smith's testimony, he will either be vilified or proclaimed a hero. The scales won't move. Nothing productive will happen. Everyone will go back to whatever they were doing before and the clown will continue to destroy this country.

Every American should be glued to their media sources and be watching this, enraged by how far this regime has taken us. Instead, they, we, will spend the day as we usually do, and not expecting much from anyone. I like to quote a character from a silly Canadian show who had some wise words that I believed. "We're all in this, together." Unfortunately, it's not true. We are so divided by greed, hate, and self righteousness, it's no wonder we no longer expect the right thing to be done

There are no heroes here. There is nothing left but fear, anger, grief and despair.
