A Fly On An ABC Wall
Word on the street is Kimmel will be back soon. Negotiations are taking place. Now, what could they be discussing?
ABC: "We'd like you to publicly apologize to Mrs. Kirk and everyone offended by your right to free speech."
Kimmel: "No."
ABC: "Just say that you're sorry you may have gone too far by tasteless comments regarding Charlie."
Kimmel: "No."
ABC: "How about you come out, say, "I'm back! I'm sorry for the kerfuffle, but it's all good!"
Kimmel: ....
ABC: "Look, we're losing our ass here. We just want people to know we're not the bad guys. We want everyone to get along and be kind. Is that too much to ask? Come on, Jimmy, give us a break here. We'll even kick in a nice big raise. Just don't make the guy call us anymore. He calls at three in the morning. He threatens to take us down. Whaddya want us to do, Jimmy? It's our jobs on the line."
Kimmel: "Go ##&*# yourselves. I'm going to go out there, say hello and reiterate what I said about Kirk, because everything I said was the truth. I will continue to be the same person you hired and I will not be suppressed. If you disagree, then I'll see you in a court of law and you will lose every damn penny you ever made."
ABC: "So, how about we forget this unfortunate incident and just move on. No harm, no foul. We love you, Jimmy."
Kimmel: "Why I'd love to come back- after you apologize to me and the American people for caving into the wishes of a demented orange baby man. And I'll take that raise."
ABC: "OK, Jimmy. Whatever you want. We're sorry. So very, very sorry."
*I do so wish this is how it went, although I doubt Kimmel is even present during negotiations. It's all legal mumbo jumbo now, but I hope ABC eats their words.
