Is It Barack's Fault?
Not all of it, but what Barack Obama tried to achieve doesn't seem a possibility anymore, and that is both parties working together for the good of the American people. I doubt he believed any of that when he left. Perhaps that's why he has abandoned us. Yes, that's how I feel about him and Michelle. Oh, he shows up now and then, but there's no fire, there's no longer the belief that those in power are looking after, we, the people. They are looking after themselves. Look how many politicians on both sides have made millions during their term? Even the former president has made enough money to run away to the Islands. One of Obama's biggest mistake was catering to the right by hiring centrists like Merrick Garland, who was a giant failure, who wanted to please both sides, so he made no decisions and angered everyone. As the NYTimes article mentions, the Democrats bring pencils to a knife fight.
I am not naive to believe this will end with two sides working together, signing meaningful bills because after all they're adults who were given an important job, to serve the public. That ship has sailed.
So, I'm blaming Obama for being a good guy who brought the pencils? A bit. He was there, in the room with the thugs with knives. He must have known it wasn't going to end well for the Dems. Maybe his pal, Joe winning the presidency gave him a sense of false security. Ah, everything is all right with the world. But, it wasn't. People were struggling, especially the poorest amongst us. Biden was working hard for the middle class, giving them break after break. He ignored the uber rich dickheads who continued to thumb their noses at playing fair. As long as everyone knew their place. In the meantime, more tents were going up along America's sidewalks. More people of color were afraid to even get in their cars in fear they'd be pulled over for bb (being black) People lived with pain rather than see a doctor or dentist because one payment could wipe them out. Biden managed to cover the excrement with a lovely blanket.
We have serious issues that we have had for a very long time. Too many guns, not enough housing. Immigrants who came here by the bus load where no idea or plan on what to do with them was ever in place. It takes just one medical bill that to wipe out a person's life savings. These were issues that were fomenting and stuck back in the closet. Let the other guy handle it.
So, now they are and they aren't being nice about it. No pencils. No mercy. No thoughtful and workable plans to fix the broken. Just shove it all onto the garbage heap and start anew, of course while filling pockets with enough money to live three lives.
So, what's it going to be, my good, fair pencil holders? Are you ready and willing to pick up the knives? If not, you can go the way of the Mayans, the Anasazi, the Rapa Nui, the Berdocks... Who?
Yeah.
