Prove You Are A H∆maπ
Can you tell if this is AI generated? This guy could.
Honestly, I don't have a clue how I would use the chat app generator thingy. As Evan Edinger explains how to easily determine whether you are reading a robot or a human I was still sure I wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless it was blatantly weird or didn't make sense. I recently read a blog post I have my suspicions about. I might go back just to test the YouTuber's tutorial to try and prove my suspicions.
Here are some red flags according to Edinger...
He doesn't mention ellipses which I use... a lot. He does note if you see the em dash, you are most likely looking at a fake. The em dash? I use hyphens, but the em dash is longer and requires some computer wizardry to bring forth.
Maybe I am a robot. There is a funny short story on YouTube where a woman has to click on a captcha to prove she's human. She continues to incorrectly hit the required squares, thereby proving she is a robot. I have given up on those squares on occasion because I couldn't see the stupid train or truck. But, I have proof I'm human. I'm terrible at following the rules for English composition! 😀
Using emojis. 😳 Uh-oh. I use them. I realize real writers hate them and would scoff at my amateur attempts. But, hey, I am amateur and I like visuals. I still write good. 🥸
Lots of filler words. Yeah, no worries there. I use the same words. I can go back to a post I wrote on my blog in 2009 and realize my vocabulary has not grown in sixteen years. Damn, sixteen years!
AI generated writing is impersonal. There are no stories about something you have done that connects you to whatever you're writing about. I can tell you I'm personally using AI when I google for information. Gotta be careful, though, sometimes, they are so very wrong. Don't take medical advice from AI.
There's a bunch of other flags Edinger notes, but it doesn't really help me. I rarely question whether what I'm reading is human or computer generated. And, does it matter? Careful. I'm playing devil's advocate here. If a robot can write a terrific story, what's the harm? 🤷
Anyway, you won't see any AI generated posts, or chat gpt, here. It's all me. I still would like to try it one day, but I would warn you in advance. I still have to find out how to get there, or if I want to go there. It's the black market for lazy politicians and marketers. Unfortunately, it's also where teachers and students stealthily slink into. For shame. 🫵
So, rest assured dear readers, what you see is me. Ha, as if I had to remind you. I've been accused of dangling modifiers and ending sentences with a preposition. Whatevs. This is real. I'm real, flaws and all.
