Changing Of The Guards

If you haven't watched a South Korean movie or tv series, you are missing out on some clever stuff.

I have watched and enjoyed, 'The Squid Game,' 'The Extraordinary Attorney Woo,' 'Catch the Ghost,' and the movie, 'Train to Busan.'

Right now I'm watching the Netflix series, 'The 8 Show.' It's listed as a comedy/drama. There are some humorous moments at the beginning until each episode becomes increasingly violent and stomach churning. It's 'Lord of the Flies' meets 'The Squid Game.'

I won't go into detail but the setup is incredible. Eight people are invited to play a game where each player is on a different level. One has the least advantages, while eight has the most. In the beginning they work together to share food and water. Eventually, the upper four players want more and treat the lower levels like their playthings to control and hurt.

The procession of increasing violence is brilliant and disturbing.

It certainly reminds me of what we are going through in this country. The upper levels are taking while the lower levels suffer. But do not despair. The lower level players have a plan. At some point the upper level believes they are completely in control they start to become complacent and lower their guard.

Big mistake. I think we, the lower level players, are still in the "wtf?" stage. We haven't quite gotten angry enough to actually retaliate. But, there is only so much push one person will take. I'm not sure where that shove is, but I think as citizens who are used to speaking there minds and enjoy having nice things, there will be a revolution.

A word of warning, however. We cannot become what they are. When our time comes, we need to protect and respect the rule of law. It will be a difficult task given the fact that I would like to see the orange man, Miller, Musk, Kennedy, Noem and the other upper level monsters suffer greatly. There won't be any satisfaction when they are charged with crimes against humanity because I will always know this should never have happened in the first place. There will just remain profound sorrow that we have sunk this low as humans.
