An Eye For A Lego

I'm going to guess many of these AITA tales are fake, but this one ticked me off, whether it's true or not. If you don't want to click on link provided you are stuck with my summary.

A husband and father in his 30's enjoys building LEGO sets. With his seven year old son they built some Star Trek or Star Wars behemoth. When man's in laws visited he showed them what they made. FIL was impressed. MIL told him to grow up. Man, let's call him "Doug" shrugged it off. The next morning he goes into his Lego room to see MIL has destroyed his work, leaving a note saying it was for his own good. Doug goes to his wife and tells her and she doesn't seem too upset.

Wow, I'm livid for him! Obviously the only asshole in this story is the MIL. And maybe the wife for not getting angry or supporting her husband. I cannot imagine what the child thought after seeing a project he and Dad created together be intentionally destroyed.

So, Doug says MIL is no longer allowed in their home, which we all know isn't going to happen if he stays married to indifferent spouse. MIL, let's call her "Karen" although I'm nearly done here, needs a big lesson to show she cannot destroy property and walk away. An eye for an eye. Isn't that what the Bible says? We should always follow those golden rules.

Karen would absolutely hate my living space. I have dolls, nothing too creepy (I hope) I have solar figurines. I have Funko figurines. I'm older than Doug. I have a stuffed cat I've had since I was seventeen that I sleep with every night. If anyone in my family dared to touch it, claws would come out.

It's not Karen's business what Doug does for enjoyment, especially when he is spending quality time with his son. I'm not sure what growing up entails then. Do we give up fun, set aside all pleasure to be considered adults? Our lives now centered on working, paying bills, cleaning, laundry and drinking wine to numb the pain.

Which one really was the adult in the room, Doug or Karen?

* Just a small group of my figurines. Barack is missing, probably surfing in Hawaii, and Aaron Rodgers has been retired.

Good you retired Rodgers- fvck that guy!
A hobby that you can enjoy with your child is priceless. The story may have been embellished a bit, but yeah, Karen was a Karen and totally wrong in her Karenness.
