The Goldie Hawn Effect

Welp. He's still alive as of 10:02, Friday evening.

You all know who I mean. I haven't heard anyone come right out and say what most of us hope, but that's ok. It's there in our minds every single day.

That's sad isn't it? I wish for the demise of a, well I was going to write, human, but he isn't that. He's a shell, a hollow man.

I should look for happy news. I see there are sources out there that just deal with the good news of the day.

I have never gone there. I don't like to be controlled regarding how I should feel. That's why I hate certain movies that use music to tell you what you should be doing. Cowering, shivering, quivering, laughing, crying.

However, I was feeling rather down (que the music!)

'Hello darkness my old friend...'

So, I asked Mr. Google. Any good news today?

Here's something Mr. G. mentioned.

Writing by hand is a good thing. It keeps our brains functioning so we can read some more shit news, if you like.

I suppose many people just turn off the bad stuff and take in just the good stuff. A few weeks ago my sister and I decided to make some signs for the 50/501 protest. My sign was something along the lines of, "Rot in hell, mofo's." My sister's sign read, "Be Kind."

Yeah, she's one of them. She'll find the good in a steaming heap of garbage.

I call it the Goldie Hawn effect.

I know there's something inside Hawn which makes her a positive, happy being. Somehow I can't see her on Bluesky or X, especially in the political section. She seems like someone who avoids the icky places, and even if she went there, she would find something positive.

BREAKING NEWS! FRED FURNORTNER, A RESIDENT OF NORWALK, OHIO, WHO WAS WALKING HIS DOG, MOLLY, CAME UPON THREE CROP CIRCLES IN HIS UNSUBSIDIZED CORN FIELD. EVERY COW HAS BEEN TIPPED! IT'S ALIENS! GET TO YOUR BUNKERS!

Goldie: "Oh, isn't that the cutest dog."

I sometimes wish I could be that way. I want to find the positive bits in dark times. Yet, I head towards the basement when I hear a clang. "HELLOOOO..."

Hello darkness my old friend....
