"AI, Create The SCOTUS"

Oh boy. Saturday night and I'm perusing Bluesky. Today was weird. After my previous blog about liking cat posts, I'm getting hit with cat posts. I'm not complaining, but it's doodoodoodoodoodoo...

I'm also getting feeds from people who hate AI generated images. I won't call it art because it's not. For me, it's a fun pastime. But, man, these people are angry. I have no intention of leaving any comment defending AI generated images because I'm pretty sure they'll attack me. I did see one poster note she would block anyone who has anything good to say about it. WTF.

Seriously, you complainers sound like narrow minded red hatters. There's room for more beauty in this world, even when created by a machine. (think Dairy Queen ice cream)

If you have never used an AI art app, let me give you a summary. You enter a prompt like, "A beautiful redheaded woman carries a great dane." Then you can use various styles or effects to achieve your "masterpiece."

As you can see, not a great dane, and not a work of art. I've been using Freepik lately which is pretty awful, but I just use the free prompts. I'm not that invested in the process.

I was using NightCafe for awhile and would get some really incredible images like the three below. NCafe can be a pain because you might get back images of people with six fingers or feet facing the wrong way. (Billie has a few extra digits)When it's wrong, it's frustrating and funny. When it's right, there are some very gorgeous results.

I don't sell the results, although, I could if I wanted to. They are mine, even though I don't think so. Not really. Typing in a few words to create an image then taking credit for it feels weird to me.

Look, I understand why artists are upset with AI, sort of, kind of...

Yet, don't blame AI if you can't sell your art.

Lighten up.

Below is my own art, using acrylic paint.

Now which work would I have a better chance selling -Vincent or breakfast?

* SCOTUS prompt result using NightCafe.

**Also, a shout-out to Lunapic. I have been using this free app for years. It's just a lot of fun.
