Wolves At The Door

This is beyond disturbing. As one Finnish woman exclaimed, it's something America does, not Finland. A subsidiary of Google, Tuike Finland Oy, cut down over 250,000 trees in order to build a data center. They were not given permission and as the citizen correctly surmised it's an American tactic. Shoot, then ask questions later, or, destroy, and just pay a fine. The absolute gall of Google is so sickening I don't have the words to describe my anger, my grief, when I see the destruction they have created. The environmental impact is devastating. The wolves who once lived in that forest are now entering the villages to find food.

The company has been ordered to stop, but the damage has been done. The head of the company pleads ignorance, claiming they thought they had permission to continue when they clearly knew the research into the environmental impact was still under review.

It makes me sick in so many ways. The woman was spot on. This is what American businesses do. Chevron, Amazon, Meta, Boeing... all pay huge sums which don't even put a dent into their vast wealth. This company keeps popping up when I look to see who owns these companies. Hopefully, Finland will be far more harsh regarding punishment. A fine is not enough.

Don't be like us. We're the ugly Americans.
