Dazzle Me
Marissa Mayer, some fancy pants business woman is in hot water. She was asked by her daughter's teacher to come up with three adjectives that describe her ten year old daughter. She had to ask a bot to come up with what was described as, "bullet points."
I remember when my daughter was ten. It's usually the very last year they love you unconditionally. They haven't noticed your flaws yet and you are their life. Ten is a good age. My daughter was creative, observant and sassy. There, that was so easy and I didn't have to ask a machine to come up with something, even though my girl hasn't been ten years old in a very long time.
Martha Stewart recently scolded us and told us we need to get it through our thick skulls that you cannot balance family and business. Stewart is a workaholic. She admits her family suffered for it, especially her daughter. It's hard trying to have a career and be the parent your kids would like. That doesn't excuse Mayer. It's actually a pretty shitty thing to do and I hope her daughter isn't traumatized by the callousness. Y'all know everyone is going to make sure she knows about it.
It's pretty pathetic when you treat your offspring like an assignment. I don't think her daughter would have been impressed with what a bot came up with and Mayer wasn't trying to impress her daughter. She probably believes she always has to be on point, perfect, infallible to the adults around her. Never let them see that you are vulnerable.
Or, worse, she has no clue who her child is. Damn, girl, even the orange man can come up with something nice to say about his spawn.
Mayer doesn't believe she has done anything wrong. It's all business to her. In fact, she'd like more women to be like her.
I don't need a bot to describe Marissa Mayer.
Clueless.
Thoughtless.
Flawed.
