A Whiter Shade of Appalled
Remember Sophia Rosing? She was the delightful drunkard who spewed forth the n word so vastly into the ether. She was a college student (no longer) who was returning from a bacchanal and was approached by another student who was on night duty that evening. Ms. Rosing did not appreciate being in the vicinity of the person with a skin a darker shade of pale.
She was eventually given a one year prison sentence for her potty mouth.
Now after serving four months, she wants out. She says she is reformed. She claims she will never, ever use that word again. Her lawyer is incensed she received any jail time at all. According to him, she's a good girl who just had too much to drink and never used that kind of language before.
Uh, sure.
There is another story of a young, white male who was at a company get together who was sitting near a group of Latina women. He expressed his desire to have authorities be allowed to slice their throats. He also made reference to some white supremacist mumbo jumbo.
He was not arrested for a hate crime. He was found drunkenly wandering a golf course later that evening and was arrested for criminal trespassing and underage drinking. The company he was representing claims Brandtbert (that's his first name) no longer works for them.
Two entitled, young white people. I'm thinking they will not suffer in life. They will not have learned any lesson. In fact, they will be quite bitter and blame others for their audacity to confront them.
We see this every single day. White people who are emboldened not only by alcohol but by their belief they are superior simply because of the amount of melanin in their body.
Unfortunately, we have too many people who believe the same thing, some who are making decisions for the people of this country.
I'm sure Sophia and Brandtbert will be just fine. It's going to take a few more generations before these type of people will no longer be allowed to speak their ugly opinions.
In the meantime... keep those phones ready to record.
*Sophia as she transformed. I can't wait to see her after a year in prison.
