Katie, Bar The Door

Image
If you are surprised by Katie Porter and her now viral video of her yelling and swearing at an aide for getting into camera range while Porter speaks, you haven't been paying attention. Porter has been called many things and I'd like to call her a cab. Hopefully, she's done because I don't want a female John Ferrerman in the party. Apparently the, "I'm a fucking bitch and I'll kick your ass with my Harvard educated mouth," is how she wants to run her campaign and her life.  I'm all for people standing up and speaking out. We need that in this democratic group of weenies. But, we do not need a person who screams at their own staff, who is rude to reporters and anyone else who gets in her way. Honestly, I hope she is done. I don't like her, never liked her and am glad the videos of her being a bitch are going viral. You can't unring a bell, Katie. You cannot treat people who trusted you, had your back and supported you, and treat them like...

The Cost of Turkey Day

Image
Who ya kidding, mister? $60 for a Thanksgiving meal for a party of ten? This was last year's estimate, and supposedly the cost hasn't changed, which I find highly implausible. Let's see what we get for $60.  One 16 lb. Turkey One can of cranberry sauce  3lbs. sweet potatoes  Carrots/celery  Peas Two pie shells  Boxed stuffing  Rolls Pumpkin pie puree One gallon milk Whipped cream  🙄😏 Give me a minute, here. Ten people. Where's the green bean casserole? Where's the mashed potatoes and gravy? That is by far the saddest list for Thanksgiving I have seen. Do not invite me to your day, please. It will depress me for days.  Last night I made a list because I am hosting a party of six this year. That's a pretty small amount of people. Would you care to guess my final tally? And this is without the bird because most of my guests don't eat fowl.  Before Turkey - $144.70. With turkey- $158.00. With turkey and toilet paper - $170. The official list i...

Bobby's Body

Image
Wow. In this Daily Beast video , Kurt Anderson, the founder of Spy magazine talks about the time he bought cocaine from Robert Kennedy Jr., who was a student at Harvard at the time and apparently if you needed a certain drug everyone knew to go to Bobby. Anderson mentions (if you refuse to watch the video) after inquiring about the purchase of the white powder, he is summoned to Kennedy's dorm room where Kennedy pulls out a box filled with weed, but no cocaine. Kennedy, along with his brother, Joe, both leave the room and Anderson starts rifling through Bobby's notes and journals. He finds an address book which actually holds the number of thee Pope and Jackie Kennedy. After they snort their $40 cocaine, they go back to their room and get a call from Bobby. He's angry because Kurt took his cocaine straw. Anderson explains in the video even then Bobby had weird thoughts because he believed his straw had special crystals inside that were formed by his mucus and the drug. So...

Until Next Time

Ok, I go I can understand why there is very little discussion on Bluesky regarding the release of twenty hostages from Hamas back to Israel. One, it's a temporary ceasefire. The hate will not be tempered. Forgive and forget are not what either side will live by. Right now they are all tired and need a break. The other reason this story is not going viral on liberal feeds is because they'd have to acknowledge Trump and the possibility he may have had a hand in ending this war. That's nine wars he has ended since January, folks. We will never hear the end of it from the orange man, and if he had any influence, well, I'll give him a hand.👏. So now that a ceasefire has been declared, what's left? Let's see... A vindictive and angry Israeli prime minister, a terrorist group that is as strong as ever, Palestinians who will seek revenge and never forget what was done to them. Unfortunately, they won't blame Hamas, but Israel. I still don't understand the mot...

A Bloody, Awful Job

Image
A few years after my divorce and living in a crooked house with a feral cat who used the crawlspace as his abode, I realized I needed to find something that paid more than minimum wage. I was getting nowhere and I absolutely hated the dump I was living in. I knew how absolutely horrible the living conditions were when my teenage daughter stayed with friends or cousins rather than come home. I didn't blame her. The neighbors were low life asshats who cranked up their music so the whole block had to listen. The other neighbor burned his garbage late at night to avoid paying for waste disposal. My landlord was a creep who hired drunks to do maintenance. I once came home to find one of his hired help standing in the middle of our living room. I could smell the alcohol fumes from ten feet away. Instead of yelling at him or looking like I wanted to scream (which I so wanted to) I laughed and asked him if he had forgotten some tools. I wanted him to think it was perfectly fine that he was...

Death And Taxes

Image
Come on, man, these are people I grew up with. These are the people who got me through the wretchedness of real life. This week Blueskyers were sick with worry over the thought of Dolly Parton leaving us, but it's just a matter of time and we've got to face the inevitable. Robert Redford , Diane Keaton , Jane Goodall , Ozzy ... I was connected more to these people than some of my relatives. I'm shocked when I see the ages of people I grew up listening to or watching on the big screen. Stevie Nicks , 77. Paul McCartney , 83. Bob Dylan , 84. Still here, but getting on in years. Just too many to list. I'm not going to cry but there's a hole in my heart when each one leaves us. I sound old because I suppose I am. Thank you all for making our lives a little better .

Oh, Christmas Tariffs, Oh, Christmas Tariffs...

Image
I loved reading about the "true" life adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder. I can still imagine her walking through freshly fallen snow to get home to Ma and Pa as they readied for Christmas. Ma always had something for the girls, such as cornhusk dolls, or a hand sewn apron. Pa whittled adorable animals from scraps of wood and then everyone sat around the fire, grateful to get a hunk of wood and some cornstalks.  This scene may be one we can look forward to this coming Christmas because Mr. Scrooge has once again threatened Santa (China) with tariffs. So instead of buying some cheap ass merchandise like a cool robot or a Barbi dreamhouse, it's time to take out the Danish butter cookie sewing tin and get creative. Homemade gifts are delightful, said no one, but times are tough. It's either paying the monthly mortgage or spending $1200 on a $5 labubu. Your choice. If you're not so good with the scissors, make some cookies. Buy the off off brand ingredients and it...
