Marilyn At 100
So, what is it about her- what is the reason why we can't let her go? Marilyn Monroe would have celebrated her 100th birthday this year if she hadn't taken her life a very long time ago. It was the time of our American Camelot when men ruled the world and women pretended they did. What is it about her that still draws people to her? Was it her beauty or was it her doe eyed look of vulnerability that keeps her in our modern world, a world that would be so foreign and unforgiving. Every word, every thought and screw up would be recorded, analyzed and used. Or, maybe she might not even be noticed. We have Sydney Sweeney with the vacant head and over spilled dresses, who plays the hapless, dumb victim. She could have dressed up like a dog or a baby and have men masturbate as she opened those big blue eyes and asked for love. We have AI, where a man can conjure up his soul mate. ( 👀🫵 Aaron Rodgers) She can do and be whatever he wishes. Who needs a real woman with real issues when you can have a Brittani with an I? Besides, she was old in LaLa land terms. Thirty-six. Ancient.
Marilyn would have been chewed up and spit out by the modern influencers who no longer even look human. Her platinum hair and real breasts would be considered strange. The mole would be excised. And her weight- she'd be scarfing down Ozempic like candy because looking soft and feminine is now frowned upon. Her alleged movie set antics would never be tolerated today. And of course there's the fact that she can't be spanked on her ass by a vile piece of garbage in the movie, 'The Misfits.' Meh, maybe I'm wrong. So, what possible role could there be for her? Monroe was not a terrible actress because she played herself most of the time- the vulnerable, bad luck gal who can't catch a break. We just watch her lips quiver and her breasts heave and we love her.
She also has a damn fine marketing company who knows how to exploit a dead woman. Depending on who to believe, Monroe made $10-80 million dollars. Last year. The money goes to her estate, the marketing company. Wow, not bad. Living off a dead woman for decades. I'm surprised the Trump's haven't used this grift yet. I guess we'll see if those Rump watches are still selling in 2086.
There's nothing wrong with admiring someone. I'm just not sure what there is to admire, here. She obviously wanted to be famous, yet hated every minute of it, seeming to try and sabotage the image she created. From what I have read, she wanted more than anything to be a wife and maybe a mother, yet, she chose terrible partners who treated her as a possession. Let's not forget the Kennedy brothers who took turns fucking her. She gravitated toward powerful men who were lousy human beings.
I truly wish Marilyn could actually rest in peace. Let her go. There is nothing she gives to us other than a feeling of sadness and what ifs.
