The Fight To Flight

I once watched a foreign movie where a family goes on a skiing vacation. As they sit outside the lodge, an avalanche begins to roll towards the building. People scramble to get away as the wall of snow tumbles down. As Mom gathers their two young children, Dad hightails it out, leaving behind wife and kids to fend for themselves. Fortunately, the avalanche stops just short of a disaster and no one is harmed to the great relief of all, although, wife and mother cannot forget what has happened. The whole movie is then between two people trying to come to terms by his cowardice, his complete disregard for the safety of his family.

I have seen the picture of RFK Jr being escorted out of the Correspondent's dinner after the horrible event that played out of an alleged attempt by one man to shoot to kill anyone in his way. Kennedy's wife Cheryl is left behind to find her way out. It truly makes me sick to my stomach to see how these men reacted to a threat to their survival. Stephen Miller is seen using his very pregnant wife as a shield to hide behind as they scramble for safety, Miller using his wife's boob as a tiller to guide them out.

We already know these two men are the lowest cretins, but I just cannot imagine what these two women could be thinking right now. Will they find a way to defend their partner's fight or flight response? Kennedy was nearly carried out by a swat team, but he could have stopped and waited for his wife. I have no doubt he will defend himself by claiming he had no choice but to be carried away.

How can Cheryl Hines look at him the same way? How? She has had blinders on this far, explaining away his oddness and weird antics. Miller is as awful as her husband, but how can she not see what everyone in the entire world can see that she was used as a human shield?

I despise the politics and beliefs these men align themselves with. I have zero respect for any woman who supports these soulless beings. Yet, I still grieve for how they are nothing in the minds of the people who took a vow to love and protect them only to be left behind or to be used. I cannot explain how incredibly heartbreaking it is to witness such a betrayal.

You deserve better, Cheryl. You really do. He left you to fend for yourself. He never looked back. Is that the person you want to spend the rest of your life with?

These men failed miserably. They were cowardly and cared only for their own survival. To use a human being and unborn child as a shield is so unacceptable, I shake in disgust. You showed who you were in a moment of chaos and danger. I never thought I would feel empathy for you, but I am going to feel your pain, even if you won't admit to it, even if you cannot see it. I will cry for you.
