Trump In A Can
Hmm... well, I'm not sure if this tale is true. I found the link on Bluesky. It's about the Social Security Administration changing the way they discuss issues with seniors who call in, likely in some sort of financial distress. Apparently some of these people are so concerned about their future they have been thinking about ending their lives, to which the SSA agent is supposed to say, "Well, there may be other options." This linked article doesn't say if the agent gives them other options. I'm assuming they do. The Blueskyer who posted the link was highly offended that anyone would say suicide is an option, comparing it with the movie, 'Soylent Green,' which is about the government shuffling off old man Eddy to Buffalo to become canned food. I don't see the comparison and I don't think we're there yet. Trump would be the first to go. I wonder what he'd taste like? Okay, back to the issue. What exactly is an agent supposed to say if someone brings up suicide? I think people should absolutely have the option to end their lives when they feel life will never be better. I myself have no intention of going into an assisted living hellhole and don't tell me they aren't. When the time comes when I know my options financially and or physically are going to be severely limited I'm checking out. I truly never understood the mindset of trying to hang on even when every day is a struggle. From the article it doesn't say any agent is advocating or giving consent to people they are speaking with to end their lives. It's actually none of their business. Perhaps if they feel the elderly person is looking for help, I think they are required to provide avenues where these people can get emotional help. It's not the job of the agent to provide mental health advice. All of this might be a bunch of nothing because I haven't verified it. I don't intend to call the SSA any time soon or ever, especially when the regime is running the country. Anything is possible and we shouldn't be surprised. I might stay away from the beef stew in a can, though.
