Take A Stand
Since man began telling stories, the main plot has been good vs. evil. 'The Epic of Gilgamesh,' is probably one of the oldest written stories (poem) over 4,000 years ago, using the good versus evil narrative. Good versus evil makes for great stories. You have drama, excitement, gore, love, greed, decency and the ultimate climax where good usually prevails.
Yeah, I won't be reading that. I don't need to because we have so many other versions to choose from. 'The Hobbit,' 'The Chronicles of Narnia,' 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,' and one of my favorites, 'The Stand,' written in 1978 by horror master, Stephen King. 'The Stand,' is an epic 1,152 pages long. It's possibly as heavy as the poem chiseled in rock. I haven't read the King book in many years. No need. We are now living it. Just a quick summary...
After a pandemic, the United States is in chaos. A charismatic and evil man has installed himself as leader. The country is divided by his followers and those who hear another voice, Mother Abigail. It is the classic tale of good vs. evil. In the book the showdown between the two separate alliances happens appropriately in Las Vegas, sin city. I'm not sure how this will end. At first I thought Mother Abigail was missing in this real life drama, but I wasn't listening hard enough. She is here. Mother Abigail is the compilation of many people, like Pastor Black from Chicago, who was shot as he peacefully protested with prayers. She is Governor Pritzker who defies the actions of the orange man. She is every citizen who refuses to serve or acknowledge an armed and masked bully. Mother Abigail is even the dancing frog in Oregon who uses humor to light the darkness.
We are Mother Abigail.
