False Security

I'm not sure what the point of a security guard is if they aren't actually capable of doing their job which includes the possibility of having to take the life of a human being who is a threat to others. What happened in New York City was alarming. Video shows a man nonchalantly walking into a building with a weapon at his side.

How?

The above picture is the security guard at my bank. I haven't had to walk into my bank in eight years, but had to go in to update information I couldn't do online. I will avoid ever having to walk in there again.

When watching court proceedings on YouTube, I am shocked by the appearance of these guards who look about the same as my bank guard. I was absolutely stunned when I witnessed five security men walk across the courtoom as they ushered in one bad perp. Three of the males had to be close to 400 pounds and all were in their fifties or early sixties. The other two were in the 300 pound range.

I know, I'm not supposed to fat shame or remark on someone's age, but there are some jobs where being physically fit is pretty important.

There are some jobs where you must remain vigilant and focused and always, always expect that one day you might have to kill someone to save lives of innocent people.

I don't know all the details of what happened when a man calmly walked into a building and was able to shoot people, including a police officer and a security guard. What's the point of having armed security if the line is breached?

Remember Uvalde? How can we forget as a gunman systematically killed children while police officers twiddled their thumbs outside.

Don't take a job you cannot do.
