Bean Soup

I hope I never come to a place in my life where I stop trying to be a better person. This video by Parkrose Permaculture discussing bean soup is an eye opener for me.

A woman made a video of making bean soup. I'm not a fan of beans or soup, so I'd move along. But, others who also don't like beans left comments relaying their dislike for them and asking  why she couldn't leave out the beans. Uh, ok. Then this isn't the video for you. Go find a recipe for tomato soup.

Obviously, it's not about the beans. It's about being so self absorbed you cannot comprehend that the world does not revolve around you, but the behavior is so prevalent in our society. People seem to feel they are being ignored or shut out if the material presented is not about them.

There are so many examples of this odd behavior.

To me, Bluesky is bean soup. It has a vast array of ingredients, a recipe with some sauciness, a little spice, some heat. People come for the beans. Lately, I am seeing a lot of red hatters infiltrating Bluesky. I noticed the uptick after VD Vance joined the fray. I'm not sure why they are joining. They clearly hate beans. Instead of sticking with like minded asshats on X, or The Daily Mail, they want to poison the bean soup. I don't want excrement in the soup. I want fresh, healthy, beautiful soup.

Go make some Grok soup or Nazi muffins. Leave the bean soup as it is.

This is timely as I just had a conversation where a bystander jumped in to basically argue points that were both irrelevant to the actual conversation, and irrelevant to the people ( myself and sister). This person felt our perspectives were inaccurate and why would we ever act as we were. She at most heard 30 seconds of our conversation with no background. When I told her that her comments made no sense because of said back ground context, her response was " well that wasn't clear and I don't know anything about that." Not quite what you shared, but it's an example of people feeling all content they are exposed to must be inclusive to them and they have a role or right to an opinion on anything.

It's very strange, but I'm sure it happens more than I noticed. I can't stop thinking about it now.
