Nancy's Gotta Gun (Tats)
It's easier for me to get into the mindset of a male conservative rather than a woman. I have no clue as to why any woman would choose to be a part of the boys club. They clearly are not welcome other than to be objects to goggle and grope. They must look like a Stepford wife and not a Susy Wiles, who is the exception to the rule, although Wiles remains in some sort of closet and only comes out when summoned by the orange man. Even Trump at first was unwilling to have her in his regime but realized she could be an asset as long as she stays out of the public eye. For me, Karoline Leavitt is the easiest to profile. She grew up in a traditional home where man was ruler and women were pretty things who learned how to use men to get what they want. She married her Daddy and lives the life every MAGA woman desires. In my opinion most of the women who support Trump have been groomed from an early age that they are nothing without a male figure. They accept their role as the traditional 1950's hausfrau who pops out babies and erases her own identity for a man. Now some would argue, but these women like Leavitt and Noem seem pretty independent because they have a career. Why wouldn't they? A dog is expected to do their bit such as protecting the household. Men figured out they can work less if there wives worked as well, plus raise the children, keep the house clean and be ready in the bedroom.
I was asked to try to get into the mind of Nancy Mace. Nancy reminds me of a girl from our neighborhood, I'll call Carrie. She even looked a bit like Nancy. She was a bit older than me but my sister and I would have sleepovers at her house during the Summer. I've written about her mother, Janet, in my previous blog whose life started with her own mother tossing her in a garbage can when she was a baby. Janet was stricken with polio and walked with a strange gait. She must have thought she was worthless because she married a man who told her every day how worthless she was. Carrie had one brother who used to go around the neighborhood and peep into bedroom windows. Carrie was doted on by both parents. She had everything a child would want. In the morning we would have breakfast before we went home. Carrie's father barked commands to his wife. He called her names, such as "useless," and "bitch," as she ran around the kitchen like a frightened chicken, all the while as Carrie and brother ate their cereal and simply accepted the scene that was most likely played out every single day. In high school, Carrie hung out with a group of guys, never with other girls. I would pass her in the hallways as she was surrounded by her posse. After her mother died, her father demanded she take care of him. He began to stalk her to the point she eventually had authorities intervene. It's possible something more sinister was going on with Carrie. She like, Mace, married a few times, had children and tried to be the tough girl as she floundered through life.
Mace grew up in a military household. I can only imagine the discipline and structure she was subjected to every day. Her father was a brigadier general - her mother, a schoolteacher, a traditional role for women.
Mace believes in aliens, animals and abortion, but only in certain circumstances. She uses slurs towards people in the LGBTQ community and believes every Muslim is out to destroy America. She purposely mispronounces Kamala Harris' name and grins as she does it.
She has been in the news lately because she posted a picture of herself in a bikini with numerous tattoos on her arms. She mentioned something about needing to feel the pain.
But then there are times when she seems almost human, as she stands next to the survivors of Epstein and demands justice, then resorts back to MAGA mentality as she also states that Trump's past should be erased.
So, I really cannot go into the head of Nancy because I get lost inside. She herself is locked into her past. She identified with Epstein's victims because she's been there herself, yet- she cannot escape her past and what she was groomed to believe. She needed to feel the pain of those needles because they took her outside of who everyone expects her to be. I don't know who Nancy is because she doesn't know either. Somewhere, deep within, I think she realizes something is not right, but it's not easy facing the truth or breaking away.
She will flounder along like my childhood friend did until another weird act comes along. She will continue to aim her hatred at others because the truth is, she hates herself most of all.
* Thanks, Berthold Gambrel for the challenge.
