"You Can't Handle The Truth!"*

This is a sad story regarding an incident that could have been completely avoided. An elderly woman walks into a restaurant and starts complaining about her order. There is video of the altercation between the woman and the staff. She apparently isn't satisfied with their response, so she shoves an employee, pulls hair, then is forcefully told to leave. She then has a heart attack and dies in transport to the hospital. Her daughter blames the employees. The medical examiner states the woman had a bad heart and the condition was exacerbated by the scuffle, an unfortunate incident she instigated.

I understand when relatives are in disbelief and try to find another answer to what transpired. In this case her family claim the restaurant edited the video. It's clear the woman was the aggressor. The restaurant lost money because they had to shut down for three weeks. No one here is a winner.

I'm seeing this pattern all too often lately where there is clear evidence of wrong doing which is disputed by family members and friends. For most I think they truly believe their family member cannot be who others see. We see what we want to see. It has happened in my own family. I saw a father who was distant and sometimes cruel with verbal criticism. My younger sisters always bring up the positive traits he had, never anything negative. It was our mother who was the crazy bitch in their eyes.

I have tried countless times to put myself in a maga woman's heels because I want to see what they find attractive about maga men, one in particular. Karoline Leavitt married a man who is 32 years older than her. She must see older men as wiser and a better catch, perhaps she feels more secure financially. Her adoration for Trump seems genuine as she dismisses every fact of evidence proving Trump is a rapist, a con and a liar. Older white men are safe. Young men are trouble.

After Brian Kohberger was arrested for the brutal murders of four college students, his mother called him her, "angel," and supported him throughout the trial. I'm finding it difficult to get information whether they still communicate. If sources are reliable it was not all that shocking to learn Brian killed four people. He allegedly was a strange child who turned into a monster. At some point, if at all, do the blinders come off?

Fortunately, I have a terrific daughter who picks up injured animals and lost seniors. I am not quite sure how I would react if I had heard she did something horrible. I think I'm a rational person and often cynical but if faced with such a devastating and life changing event I want to believe I can accept the truth.

As for stepping into MAGA heels... I could try and walk in them for days, weeks, months and still not understand the mindset. I have read countless articles where experts try to explain them and they never really can. Brainwashed, uneducated, vulnerable, gullible, evil, good hearts who mean well... Even after evidence is there where they need only to look, they are still unwilling to accept the truth.

We see what we want to see.
