You Had One Job

It's possible if the two prison guards on duty had done their jobs they were hired to do, Jeffrey Epstein would probably be alive today. I'm not sure if the recent questioning of Tova Noel, by the House Oversight Committee shed light on what happened August 9th and 10th of 2019, when Epstein was found hanging in his jail cell. Forensics cannot determine the exact time of death but estimate Epstein had been dead one to two hours prior to being found by Noel and Michael Thomas. Thomas lowered Epstein, then attempted CPR. After an investigation both of the guards were charged with falsifying records of their activity that night. Every thirty minutes a guard is required to walk their section and check on prisoners, then log it into the record book. Instead, they slept and surfed the Internet, neither one checking the prisoners throughout the night. Video of that night determined both lied about carrying out their assigned tasks. Epstein wasn't found until 6:30 the next morning, most likely right before a shift change was to happen.

No one cares that Epstein is dead. He was a vile piece of garbage. But, it changed the course of history and the release or, the spittle of a release of files. If he was alive today, those files would have remained private until useful, either for him or the court. Perhaps, the entire mountain of evidence would have eventually seen the light of day. Now, names and numbers of men who raped children will be buried, more than likely, shredded, so we will never know the extent of the depravity. The survivors of Epstein, Maxwell, Trump and all the others who abused them, only knew a very compartmentalized world of their captor. They were children who were unaware of how widespread Epstein's filthy business was, which thrived from a large circle of predators who relied on their "dear friend," Jeffrey, to find a child to entertain their fantasies for a few hours. Our wholly corrupt government officials choose to protect the predators. Outing them would be a financial catastrophic event. It would also reveal how everyone failed these children.

How fucking hard is it to walk a hallway every thirty minutes? Epstein had already committed his most heinous acts, but we'll never know anything  more because he tied a sheet around his neck and hanged himself. He will never have to sit in a courtroom and face the people he harmed. Is there more to this than just two guards taking naps during their shift or were they paid to mind their business for a few hours? I lean towards Epstein taking his own life. He knew how lax security was. He knew the guards usually slept through the night. He was handed the perfect opportunity to end his life. Noel had stated in an earlier deposition that Epstein was considered special. He was given extra sheets and even had a CPAP machine which had a cord, something no other prisoner was ever allowed. Special. Even so, he probably realized he would never see the outside world again. All those people who fell at his knees, asking for advice, favors and girls, wouldn't be there this time. It wasn't "fun." And yet... there were some very powerful people who didn't want their secrets known. It would be so easy to bribe two guards who could have used some extra cash. It happens all the time.

Another quiet night in the special housing unit of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.

It was the morning that changed the path in the history books.

And all because two guards didn't do their jobs. Noel received no jail time because she agreed to talk. She did a few hours of community service for napping on the job, something she denied doing. How very strange to reward someone if they promise to tell the truth. Yesterday, after seven years, she again testified and very likely added nothing new to what happened that night. They heard nothing. How could they? They were asleep.

In my opinion, she should have seen the other side of a jail cell, along with Thomas. It doesn't seem anyone has been held accountable in this debacle. That's the ultimate insult added to this horrific sequence of events where powerful men who raped children got away with it as the survivors still want answers and accountability.

What we do know is there are an awful lot of horrible people out there, people we are supposed to trust and rely on to do the right thing. Instead, we witness so many people willing to chip away their inner self for a crumb. It's shocking to me, still, after all that I have seen or heard, how many people will sell pieces of their soul for whatever is promised to them. They are receiving nothing in return as they give everything of themselves away.
