Riding My Bike To Switzerland
As I ride my bike (no, that's not me above) going nowhere because it's a stationary bike, I like to watch Stingray Cityscapes on Roku. Wow! We get a bird's eye view of various cities, something we can never do in real life. I've only just begun but have a few favorites. Los Angeles is absolutely stunning. I think it is one of my favorite cities, from above anyway. Boston, Dallas, Malaysia and Switzerland are all cities that have been beautifully designed by incorporating the old with the new. Some cities look as if, well, if the orange man had been at it. Big, ugly monstrosities that are built next to a Shakey's Sugar Shack or stand away from any other buildings. Detroit from above looks no better than Detroit down below. It tries, but it's really boring. Nothing stands out. They're just a bunch of big cement building blocks. Even Paris from above is underwhelming. You have to explore that city to find the beauty. These beautiful scenic adventures are allegedly all real and not AI. I'm a bit suspicious since everything looks so clean and the traffic goes at a grandma pace. But, I'm going to assume they slow it down because we are here to enjoy the view and relax. Stingray has a few other delights such as the Cozy Cafe where you can sit and look at coffee steaming away. That is definitely AI, so skip if you are offended. Every fifteen minutes or so a new cafe appears. There are never any people, although, there might be a woman's purse, a cell phone and sometimes a jacket. We're supposed to feel relaxed but I worry about why there are five cups of hot coffee and no one is around. Some scenes will have a sleeping cat or dog, butterflies and birds. I do enjoy the cafes. I probably shouldn't drink coffee as I watch but I want to experience the moment. They're all big on desserts as well, especially croissants. Oh, there's Muzak playing but I mute it.
Another Stringray channel I checked out was called free riding. People jumping out of planes or riding bikes near cliffs. No thank-you.
And one I haven't checked out yet is Stingray Stargaze. I prefer to ride my bike in the cities, not the stars.
I'm still waiting to see Chicago from above, which is my favorite city, and I would love to see Washington DC before it looks like the circus came to town. People who allegedly know what they're doing approve or reject the designs for their cities. I don't understand that part. I was going to point a finger at Ivan from Belarus, but, Belarus looks good. Bud from Oxnard, California- he needs to be shamed.
Yes, that's Oxnard and "Bud" Smith developed that. No one named Bud should be in charge of anything. Phoenix, Fresno and San Jose have also been given the dubious honors as having the ugliest skylines. I cannot argue with that.
Gonna get a cuppa and relax for awhile.
*For real, this guy riding around Chicago in an Elmo head.
