Rent A Date
Unwanted men handle their rejection in different ways around the world. In America it's traditional to get together with other angry men and discuss ways to hurt women.
In Afghanistan you pay for a ten year old girl with a cow or automatic rifle.
In the UK, you form a rock band and have coitus every night, even if you look like a shriveled potato.
In Japan, they hire women for a date. No, date doesn't mean the same thing as the ho "date," in America, but almost. You're still buying a lady's time, but supposedly there's no hanky panky.
There's a channel on YouTube made by a young Japanese woman who takes us with her on her weekend rent a date. She has a regular job during the week, but I guess that doesn't pay the bills, so she hires herself out as a date for lonely men. I only watched one the whole way through just to see what happens. Not a whole lot. We never see faces, just a hand or the back of a head. She has a few regulars who hire her to accompany them to dinner or lunch, whatever the man decides. Her mission is to make believe she's his steady in case anyone around them cares. In my past I've done the guessing game where we sit in a restaurant and guess the relationship between couples. I don't think I'd ever assume one was being hired to pretend they were a couple. Of course, this is America. Not much has changed regarding dinner and expectations, here. Men don't hire women to dine with them. At least I don't think that's a thing, here. The latest video I watched was her getting ready for her weekend date. She was in the kitchen creating a dish because he wanted her to cook a meal for him. That's about all I could stomach. It's clear she doesn't like this double life, but needs the money. It's depressing to watch and I'm not going to be a participant in it. I left a comment because that's what I do. I wrote that I found the whole thing rather disturbing. She ❤️ me and said she was grateful for my honest opinion. An American would have called me a bitch and told me to fuck off.
Technically she's not doing anything wrong except pretending she's in a relationship with a guy who can't find true love. There are block buster movies made regarding that premise. Guy needs to marry or he will lose his job or inheritance. Woman needs to marry to prove she's no ho. But, that's the movies. This is real life and it's kind of sad and sickening. Do people really care that much what others think about them!?
"Oh, look at that guy, eating dinner all alone. He must be a real loser who can't get anyone to love him."
This idea that you have to be with someone or otherwise you are a nothing has got to stop. There are so many people in loveless relationships because of societal pressures. I like a lot of things about Japan, mostly their food and vending machines, but the pressure they put on their citizens is horrible. Who's they. Thems they.
But, they're not alone in their skewered idea about relationships and courting. It makes my stomach ache to see people pretend a life as if they are still children acting out a scenario. You're not children! Grow the fuck up and be who you are.
