Godnitive Dissonance

A lot of likes for James

I have no issue regarding what people choose to believe in- God, the noodle man, Buddha, Allah... whatever gets you through the day. The problem as always is when you start pontificating in my space. There is a video on Bluesky where James Talerico is speaking about spirituality. It looks like he's speaking in a church setting which is exactly where it should be. So why is it on Bluesky? Hey, I get it, Bluesky isn't just a platform for political views. I see cats, food, movies, books and terrible anime art all the time. The problem is Talerico is running for a political position, a senator, in Texas. I have no doubt he will win because Texans loves their Jesus, along with guns and pick up trucks. The majority of Texans will still vote Republican because even when gas costs $6 and a bag of apples cost $7, you vote for a Republican. But a few believe everyone has a right to be treated with kindness and they don't really care if Donna loves Sarah because it has zero affect on their lives. They do love a god fearing man who knows his Bible, unlike Russell Brand who was recently recorded in one of the most awkward situations, looking for an appropriate line from his go to Bible. I'm sure James knows where to find a good quote when he needs one. In fact I've seen video of him reciting a couple as he sat for an interview about his quest to be a senator. And that is where I take issue. Y'all can't be a bunch a hypocrites and scream at the Maga judges who base their decisions on their religious beliefs - a supposed no no, but hey, they're human, they believe in a higher being who will reward them one day for taking away rights for women and people of color, because we all know, God loves white men most of all, even a black judge who believes he's white.

Talerico's supporters are fine with him talking about his faith in political debates. I'm over here waving red flags because he will base every vote he makes not on fact but what his God tells him. He cannot be two things at once.

This you, God?

Nah, just a bunch of dudes speaking for God, just like James Talerico.

Now naturally after leaving a few comments regarding my opinion that Talerico could be a wolf in sheep's clothing, I get rational replies. Lol. No, I get personally attacked because that's what they do. If you happen to have a suggestion noting you should be careful and take a closer look at Talerico and his motive, the claws come out. It's no different from the maga cult who follow their orange man no matter what he says or does. People pick and choose what fits their narrative. Hey, it's okay if Talerico wants to instill a few Bible quotes and talk about the lack of spirituality in today's world as long as he includes the LGBTQ community and all the people, "red and yellow, black and white..." I guess that's the God Talerico goes for.

This you, James?

I know I'm not going change one person's mind today. Religion is like a cancer that metastaticizes into every cell of your body. You're in a cult and you refuse to see it. That's your problem. Don't make it mine by having these people decide my fate using their beliefs as the playbook.

If Talerico wins and becomes a senator, I'm going to take a huge leap of faith and believe in my gut and bet one of the first things Talerico will do on the Senate floor is gather in a circle and pray to his God, thanking Him for shining down on a loyal servant.

Hey, I could be wrong.

Nah.

Yep, he might just be our own Mikey Johnson. Most likely he's sincere, but obviously you have to have those Xtian bonafides to compete- and win- in Texas because the congregation expects it. It's makes them look good in their mirrors.

I'm sure Mikey is sincere as well. Well, I plan to keep tabs on James.
