Well, I can honestly say I don't think this has ever happened to me, where a man was purposely being an asshole to me as I went about my business. According to the responders to an article in, 'The Guardian,' a woman could be walking down a sidewalk and be shoved and cursed at for not getting out of the male's way. I have linked the response article to the original story where Lucy Pasha-Robinson chronicles moments where men have been verbally and physically abusive towards her just for taking up space. It's shocking to read and difficult to understand what exactly is going on. The majority of these women claim that if they had been accompanied by a male the incidents would have never occurred.

So, what's going on guys? Are you really that angry with us to the point you need to behave in an aggressive manner? The reason I don't think I've ever had to face a situation like this is because I try to be aware of what's going on around me. If I do happen see a lone male walking my way I move. I don't care if you are offended. I'm not taking chances. I also never look at my phone when I'm walking, but I do keep it close.

But... hear me out, ladies. What if you are in the wrong? Are you looking down at your phone, completely involved in whatever is on it rather than what is going on around you? Are you the one who refuses to give way on a sidewalk and expect the male to move? One woman in the article even admits she won't give way if she is toe to toe with an immovable male subject. It just seems odd to me that suddenly men are turning into alien beings who are turning on women as they walk down a street. I have not had a close encounter with a male but I have witnessed many times when a woman is digging in her purse as she walks, putting on lipstick as she looks in a mirror as she walks, stopping, starting, stopping, starting as she walks, completely oblivious to her environment. That's why we must remain vigilant. All. The. Time.

Either way, everyone stop with the attitude. It's childish and pointless. We still need each other.

Don't we?

Guess who I ran into the other day? LUCY HAWKINS! She was applying her makeup AND digging through her purse while walking down Main Street. I should mention I was practicing walking backwards, so now that I think about it, we both mighta been at fault.

I went into a coffee shop the other day and every single one of the patrons was staring down at their phone.
