No News Is No News

I'm not sure why I feel tired and worn down today. I'm sure millions of Americans do after partying to the Superbowl. I didn't party. My biggest activity was getting on my stationary bike. But, I digress. I want to talk about the news. My choices to where I can go has been getting narrower due to paywalls. I have been relying on Bluesky for third party news. I realize that's dangerous because not every blueskyer has good intentions, or, they just believe everything they see, like those who are glued to Fox News and post it. The one news source I paid to read was The Guardian. I write, "was," because they sold out. For a very long time they relied on the people to keep them financially stable. Their motto was something like, "We can't be bought! We will stay unbiased until we rot!" Unfortunately, the mold and mildew set in. They capitulated. Bigly. I couldn't read a story with being inundated with flashing ads in my face and there is a distinct odor of right wing mouth breathing lately. I still have ways to get around the paywall, but it's getting more difficult. We'll be only getting our news from our Maga government soon. I get it, people need money to survive. You must pay for the right to know what's happening. I still head over to The Daily News, the most vile right wing British tabloid because they are usually the first with breaking news. If you can stomach the far right rhetoric which gets truly vomit inducing, then you'll find some interesting stuff. I haven't read the NYTimes in years, but I have heard they are no longer reliable anyway. I'm not sure who is. I tend to rely on Occam's Razor, although in these times separating fact from fiction is becoming a thin line. Being cynical all my life has helped me to question anything I see or hear. I've always been baffled by people who will believe whatever they hear without question. It's like they want others to think for them. Gahd, it's just too bothersome to have to decide things! They believe the documentary, Melania was the greatest film ever made. They believe Kid Rock dancing around in his jorts was phenomenal, a real hit. They believe God is on their side. That's kind of sad. I'm not the brightest bulb- there's a lot that goes on that I don't understand, but I think I understand good from bad. I understand I'm not the only one on this planet and it sure doesn't revolve around me. Our differences is what make this world amazing, but some just can't see it that way. If we don't have sources available and that we can rely on, it's going to get scary real fast. And you can't blame AI on this. This is a people problem, one we need to figure out very soon.

My beef with many sites is that you are damned if you do, damned if you don't. They ask me to turn off my adblocker and I pause it and refresh. Then they keep asking me to turn off my adblocker again. And again! I think they want me to take my adblocker outside and shoot it! I will not do that. So, I move on and read something else. Yep, the days are probably numbered for independents. These people DO have to make a living and I do get that. But if I can't or won't pay, I guess I just won't get "that", whatever that is.
