Doug Goes Proud Boy

What the hell, Kevin James. I just watched a movie on Netflix where a thirteen year old girl goes postal after a group of thugs escape a prison transport. Kevin James plays a white supremacist, Nazi tattoos and all. The thugs target Becky's house because there's a key James hid years before and now wants it back. I don't believe they ever explain what the key is actually for. Becky just lost her mom to cancer and her father, Joel McHale, has already moved on as he brings in a new woman who has a child. Becky is naturally pissed. Frankly, I would be as well. While Becky is out in the woods pouting, her father and new family are taken hostage. There's a lot of bloody violence and gore. Becky's father is tortured with a marshmallow kebob and eventually killed which is a relief because McHale is insufferable to watch. He comes off as a whiny, weak loser. I don't know if that was intentional but I didn't mind when he was shot. James can't find the key because Becky found it long ago and has it in her fort, so the gang goes after the teenage psychopath. Little did the James gang know what they were up against. She manages to ram the key into James eye whereupon he must cut off his dangling orb with children's scissors. It's rather comical but truly gruesome. It's disturbing watching this girl attack these men in very brutal and slow moving action. In the meantime her new mama and stepbrother are still in the house, duct taped and defiant.

Spoiler Alert! Eventually Becky manages to kill the clan, James is run over with a lawn mower. We get to see the results of his faceless skull in bloody living color. Then Becky is questioned after the three survivors are rescued and claims she can't remember much about what happened. The police believe it and the last shot is Becky with an insane grin on her face as she lovingly fingers the key.

This movie was released in 2020. I'm guessing they were planning on a sequel, maybe not. Becky would be of legal age and most likely working as an assassin or in a mental institution.

Usually I like movies where a woman must fight back as evil bastards try to kill her, but this movie is disturbing. Becky gets off on murder, the more gruesome the better. There is one scene where a gang member is waffling on the whole Nazi world and just wants out. Becky shoots him in the head with zero remorse or emotion other than satisfaction. Becky obviously has some anger issues. I'm not a fan of children being used as victims in movies. I don't understand what the point was here. There probably wasn't one other than to be shocked by a thirteen year old girl systematically killing men in gruesome ways.

I like Kevin James. I thought, "The King of Queens," was terrific. He can be very funny. I also found that chunky guy kind of sexy. He wasn't terrible here as a bad guy, but all I could see was Doug (character in KOQ) who had gone very bad. Maybe Carrie pushed his last button, or his FIL, who lived in the basement made him go mad. I think he should stick to comedy. Same with McHale. Sometimes, you should stay inside your box. If you like to watch gorey movies which are made strictly to show blood and guts, put this on your list. Otherwise, a strong, hard pass.
