Does This Person Exist?
Is she real or AI?
Word is 20% of YouTube videos are AI generated. I disagree. I believe that percentage is much higher. Probably 98% of the Shorts on my feed are AI. Most are rage bait videos made to get you involved and angry. The last one I watched was of a seven year old girl in court holding up her drawings she was selling because her brother needed an operation. The bully town sheriff fined her for not having a permit. The judge dismissed the case. What kills me is how these creators prey on the vulnerability of the elderly and those not aware this is garbage. It makes me sick to see this because these people get paid for posting this nonsense. I think I'm pretty good at weeding out the fakery, but there are times I'm not so sure because the world of AI is definitely becoming more sophisticated. I regularly use an art generator to add an image to my posts. I never take credit for the art because all I'm doing is creating a prompt for the machine to spew out something close to what I want. When I first started using this website years ago, AI had issues with depicting a real language. If I had asked it to create a bowl of soup with the word soup on a sign, I'd receive something like this...^§∆¥. AI has become far more advanced in a very short span. Now, it can usually hit the mark. I found this article last night where they write about the rapid progression of AI. UK researchers tested over 600 people to see if they could recognize AI generated faces. There are some people who are pretty good with face recognition - they seem to be able to pick out the fakery from the reality. But the majority only found less than half of AI. Here is a link which reveals a succession of AI faces. I spent far too long on it, looking at faces of people who don't exist. Some are quite obvious. Some just look off. But there are quite a few that had me fooled. The fakery has gone as far as creating AI slop musicians who do so well they/it are listed on music billboards. I've heard one of the songs and it's fairly decent. I once prompted ChatGPT to write a story about a weird girl named Frankie who lives in a small Wisconsin town where things are not as they seem. Frankie already existed because I wrote, 'Frankie Dreams,' years ago and published it through Amazon. Sadly, the ego busting ChatGPT wrote it better. Both versions will be forever sealed. AI is absolutely everywhere, like here, with this very long article about a band that is retiring after fifty years. The first clue that this wasn't real, was the image that went along with it.
It's so obvious it's fake. And then this bogus band story which goes on and on, and not once is the name of the band mentioned because it's all a lie!
I get tired of seeing AI images on Bluesky that are of a similar vein as the YouTube shorts because they are posted to make you react. I'm not sure if the repeat offender realizes it's bs. Or, it's possible they are purposely using propaganda to generate more divisiveness. That sets me off. Sometimes, I tell them to knock it off. If they continue with the deception they are blocked. Anyone who uses AI to purposely spread misinformation are low life slugs. I do think there is room for AI in our lives, but not when it is used to deceive.
*Does that person exist? Yes and no. That's my Auntie Icky. She was fafoed during the Covid pandemic.
