Beauty And The Daily Beast
Man, I did not see that coming. The Beckham's. You know, Bend it Beckham and Spicey Beckham. I'm not sure why they are still in the news. Seems they peaked in the 90's and now just go to fashion shows. Word is Mama Spice hates her son's wife. Ah, so familiar. No one's good enough for the son. Apparently, Bronx, no, Staten, no, Brooklyn, their nepo baby has had enough and claims to never speak to his parents ever again. Whatevs. It's a story since time began. Seems these images of Victoria ruining the wedding have been going around. It's laughable, actually, and AI generated.
But, I digress, because I don't care about the Beckham's. They were never on my radar. There are a lot of things I choose not to care about. The Kardashians, rich housewives, Mormons, coding ...
That doesn't mean I remain in a bubble. I'm always checking out our current world events. But, there really are people who choose not to know what's going on around them. I was watching Joanna Coles and Michael Wolff on their channel, The Daily Beast. Joanna mentioned the fashion designer Valentino had died, then she shared her story about going to meet him one day. Before she entered his domain she was told not to mention the war in Iraq. She thought this an odd thing. Why would she mention it, but why would Valentino be upset if she did? Apparently, Valentino was protected from hearing any bad news. Ever. His life was filled with beauty and beautiful things. Always. That was his world. He lived to be 93, so maybe we should all consider living in our own bubble. War in Ukraine? Never heard of it. A demented American president demanding he be given Greenland!? Who's the president?
There are people who live as Valentino did- oblivious to anything other than what they need and want in their lives. I almost went there myself after the November election. I was so down the rabbit hole I was thinking of staying there. I really had planned on not listening or reading anything regarding world events for the next four years. I think that lasted about a month. I can understand why Valentino chose to block out the ugliness because those who see the world as it is suffer mentally and physically. It takes a toll, seeing how awful humans can be. But, what if we all just stuck our heads in the sand?

We need beautiful things in our lives, even if we can only look and dream, because it's attainable, it's real, but, we cannot expect a world of beautiful wonders if we don't confront the ugliness.
