The Annoying AI Neighbor
If you read my blog enough you know I use AI for visuals. I even sometimes ask ChatGPT to write a song or poem, always noting on the post that it is AI. People are becoming hysterical about the future of AI because we just don't know the true effects it will have on human existence. Right now it seems to be everywhere, whether we like it or not. I like it when I go searching for it. I don't like it when it's in my face and asks silly questions such as 👇.
First of all you've got Dylan wrong, pal. He started out as a folk singer, than merged into something not really rock and roll but not folk either. Don't mess with me about Dylan because I know more than I should about another human being I've never met, although I once got close enough to his tour bus I was tempted to tap on a window. They were in there, waiting to perform. I could smell the weed and hear them laughing. That was my first Dylan experience and it was the best.
Temu in France!? I'm assuming AI is following me, knowing what I might be interested in. I do shop at Temu and I like it. Nearly everything I have bought has been great. When I do have an order issue they respond immediately. The prices are higher than before but that's fine. And if you want to argue about child labor and crappy wages look no further than our own country. Aaaand, the stuff you buy from Amazon or Walmart come from the same place as they do from Temu. But, I don't care about Temu in France.
Okay, I know why AI is asking me about the Arkansas police. I watch YouTube videos where the ASP chase noncompliant drivers who choose to drive away rather than get a ticket or go to jail. Arkansas police are allowed to pit a driver. I think this attempt to stop reckless drivers needs some overhaul. It's dangerous. It doesn't always go well. People die. I find it amusing when police ask if they can search your car and you say no but they do it anyway. What's the point of asking? And every Tom, Dick and Karen knows their rights, even as they're being hauled off in cuffs.
Career advice to a colleague? Fortunately, I don't have to do that. I'm not sure why AI thinks this would interest me. I did work with a coworker whom I have mentioned many times here on the Thingy blog. I called her Doris because she looked a bit like Doris Day and had that energy. Always bouncy and smiling, but underneath was a Karen, a very dark and nutty woman. I knew her mindset so well (which was kind of scary) that I knew one day she was going to sabotage another coworker because she didn't like him. She had a tell, that when she was planning something or lying, her face got beet red and she would pull on her socks. She had been giving this coworker the evil eye lately and actually needed a deflection since she had messed up on a recent spec. I was so tempted to tell her, "Don't you do it." But that was before she had committed the crime which would have made me look like an ass. And yet, she actually did the deed. She went to our manager and claimed she found defective parts in a customer's order that had already been approved. She said she saw this particular coworker lurking about. I never said anything because she was well liked by the owner who fell for her fake smile and shiny blonde bob. I do still regret I didn't speak up. A few years ago I learned karma finally paid a visit and she had been fired for talking bad about another coworker. It gave me little joy because she had ruined so many people, including me.
Listen up, AI. I'll come looking for you. Stay out of my backyard and quit being annoying. Go home.
